有Queen of Country Music「鄉村歌后」美譽的女歌星Kitty Wells，，7月16日星期一早晨在家人陪伴下安詳的離開人世，享年92歲。◄圖／翻攝自網路Kitty Wells 1919年出生于田納西州Nashville，是一位傳奇鄉村歌手、作曲人與吉它手，1952年至1979年有81首鄉村歌曲排行榜暢銷曲。Kitty Wells於1937年與後來成爲他先生的Johnnie Wright一同踏入歌壇，1952年以It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels這首歌成爲第一位在鄉村歌曲排行榜獲得冠軍的女歌手。鄉村歌曲是美國南方地域性的流行歌曲，伴隨着班鳩琴、木吉他、小提琴與口琴等的伴奏，唱出歌謠與舞曲的內容，也擁有無數的愛好者。1960年代起有很多鄉村歌曲同時也在流行歌壇受到歌迷們的喜愛，這些跨界的歌星包括：Glen Campbel、John Denver、Anne Murray與Kenny Rogers等。
